Troubleshooting
Why a Facebook video will not download
Most failures come from the copied URL, the post's audience settings, source availability or a temporary processing problem. Use the symptoms below to find the likely cause.

The link is invalid or unsupported
Copy the URL again from the video's Share menu. A notification URL, message thread, incomplete text fragment or lookalike domain is not a valid Facebook media link. FastVid accepts HTTPS links from recognized Facebook hosts only.
Short fb.watch and supported share URLs may redirect before extraction. If a fresh share link still fails, open it in the browser and copy the final public address.
The post is private or restricted
A video can appear for you because you are logged in while remaining unavailable to a public service. Friends-only posts, private groups, workplace communities and restricted profiles require access that FastVid does not have.
FastVid does not request credentials or bypass access controls. Ask the creator for the original file or use a download option that Facebook provides to the owner when available.
The post was removed or changed
Creators can delete a post, change its audience or replace media. Facebook can also restrict a video by age, region, rights status or platform policy. A saved URL does not guarantee continued availability.
Open the link in a logged-out private window. If the media is not visible there, a public downloader should not claim that it can retrieve it.
No formats are returned
A public page can load while its media response is temporarily unavailable or changed. Wait briefly, copy the current link and retry once. Repeated attempts will not fix a private or deleted item.
Different uploads expose different qualities. If only one format appears, that may be the only format the source returned rather than a problem with the device.
Rendering stops or times out
A Render action can be needed when video and audio arrive separately. Keep the tab open and avoid starting the same job multiple times. A long video, upstream congestion or a temporary network failure can delay preparation.
If the job reports a failure, retry once. Then choose a direct format if one is available or contact FastVid with the public link, selected quality and error message.
Report a reproducible problem
Send the public URL, device, browser, approximate time and exact error text to contact@fastvid.net. These details help reproduce a link-pattern or processing issue.
Do not send login details, session cookies, access tokens, private HTML or unrelated personal information. FastVid support does not need them to investigate the public downloader.
