How to download a Facebook video

Use FastVid only for a video you created, a video you have permission to save, or media you are otherwise legally allowed to download. A public link does not remove the creator's copyright or privacy rights.

The easiest test is to open the Facebook link in a private browser window while logged out. If the post requires a login, group membership, friendship or another access control, the public downloader will not bypass it.

In the Facebook app, open the video or Reel, choose Share, then choose Copy link. On desktop, open the post and copy its address from the browser or use the post's Share menu. Copy the link to the actual video, not a notification or message thread.

FastVid recognizes common public addresses such as facebook.com video and reel pages, fb.watch short links and supported share links. Tracking parameters are acceptable, but a complete link is more reliable than a copied fragment.

Return to the FastVid homepage, paste the URL into the Facebook video link field and choose Download. FastVid validates the hostname, asks the configured media gateway for available media and displays the formats returned for that request.

FastVid does not ask for your Facebook password, session cookie or access token. Never paste credentials into a downloader. If a page claims that a login is required inside its own form, stop and review the site's privacy and security practices.

The result may offer one or more video qualities. Choose the format that suits your device and storage. A quality label describes the returned source; FastVid does not promise that every post has HD, Full HD or 4K.

Some higher-quality Facebook formats can separate video and audio. When the result says Render, FastVid must ask the media service to prepare a combined file. This can take longer than a direct download.

Desktop browsers usually save the file in Downloads unless you selected another folder. Chrome on Android normally uses the Downloads folder. Safari on iPhone saves browser downloads in the Files app; use Share and Save Video if you want to move an MP4 into Photos.

If the browser opens the video instead of saving it, use the browser's download control or press and hold the video and choose the available save action. Browser wording varies by version.

Copy the link again from the video itself, remove accidental spaces and confirm that the post still opens publicly. Deleted posts, audience-restricted videos, private groups, age or region restrictions and temporary upstream failures can prevent a result.
