Private Facebook Video Downloader

Extract available video formats from page source you are already authorized to view on Facebook.

Permission to view does not automatically grant permission to download or redistribute.

2. Copy the page-source address

Use the same desktop browser session that can play the video. Some mobile browsers do not support view-source pages.

FastVid never asks for a Facebook password, session cookie or access token. Submitted source is processed for this extraction request by FastVid and its configured media gateway.

How the authorized source workflow works

Three explicit steps, with no Facebook credentials submitted to FastVid.

01

Paste the private video URL

Open the Facebook video while signed in to an account that is permitted to view it. Copy the complete video or post URL, then paste it into the first field.
02

Copy the page-source address

FastVid validates the Facebook hostname and prepares a view-source: address. Copy it, paste it into the address bar of the same signed-in desktop browser and open it.
03

Paste the returned page source

Copy the complete source text from the page-source tab and paste it into FastVid. Choose Extract video to check only the formats present in that submitted source.

A private workflow with clear boundaries

Facebook-only URL validation

The first field accepts recognized HTTPS Facebook hosts. A non-Facebook link is rejected before a page-source address is prepared.

Source-based format detection

FastVid reports only the video formats found by the private extraction gateway. It does not promise HD, 1080p, 4K or a format missing from the submitted source.

No account credentials

Your Facebook login remains in your own browser. Do not paste a password, session cookie, access token or authentication header into FastVid.

Authorization remains your responsibility

Use this workflow only for a video you own or have permission and a lawful basis to save. Group membership or friendship alone is not a redistribution license.

What FastVid processes and when to use another method

The public downloader cannot retrieve a friends-only post, restricted profile video or private-group video because the public service does not share your Facebook session. This separate workflow lets you provide page source from a Facebook page that your own browser is already authorized to display. FastVid does not log in for you, ask for credentials or change the video's audience.

After you submit the source, FastVid sends the private Facebook URL and source HTML to its configured media gateway. The gateway checks the submitted document for available media and returns normalized format information and short-lived download actions. Source HTML is limited to 5 MB. Results still depend on the source structure, media availability, provider response and applicable restrictions.

Use Meta's export tools first for your own uploads

If you need a copy of videos you uploaded, Meta provides an official Export your Facebook information workflow with media-quality and date-range choices. People with full control of a Page can also request a copy of their Facebook Page. Those account-level tools are the preferred option for an archive of your own content.

Privacy, platform rules and copyright still apply

Meta explains that only current members can see what is shared in a private Facebook group. Access to view a post does not by itself transfer copyright or permission to distribute it. Meta's Terms of Service also prohibit access to data you do not have permission to access. Save and use a video only when the owner, applicable law and relevant platform rules allow it.

Review basis: This workflow and copy were checked against the live RapidCDN gateway contract, Meta Help Center and Meta Terms on July 20, 2026. FastVid is independent and is not affiliated with Facebook or Meta.

Private Facebook downloader questions

Can FastVid unlock a Facebook video I cannot view?

No. You must already be able to open and play the video in your own authorized Facebook session. FastVid does not bypass audience controls, group membership or account restrictions.

Do I enter my Facebook password or cookie?

No. Never submit a password, session cookie, access token or authentication header. FastVid only asks for the Facebook video URL and the page source you deliberately copy from your browser.

Why is page source required?

A private video is not available to a logged-out public request. The page source from your authorized browser can contain the media references needed for the gateway to identify available formats without receiving your login credentials.

Is the submitted page source kept only on my device?

No. It is sent to FastVid and the configured media gateway for the active extraction request. Do not submit unrelated sensitive information, credentials or source from a page you are not authorized to process.

Does the private downloader work on iPhone or Android?

The extraction result can be used on mobile, but obtaining a complete view-source document is usually more reliable in a desktop browser. Mobile browser behavior differs and some do not expose page source.

Will every private Facebook video have HD or audio?

No. FastVid displays only the formats returned from the submitted source. Quality, resolution and audio depend on the original upload and the media references available in that document.

Can I repost a video after downloading it?

A download does not transfer ownership or grant permission to repost. Obtain the creator's permission or another valid legal basis before copying, publishing or redistributing the video.
